Originally this song is being supposed as tribute, but I cannot name this piece as a song, it is master piece. Classic. Like many other things from this band.
Lyrics,
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now theres a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the
Steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend,
You martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the
Steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper,
You prisoner, and shine!
But lyrics, lyrics is just a part (just a smaaal part). When song starts and continues, the one thought comes in mind, “fantastic !!! music is fantastic!!! waiting for lyrics, let’s hope they will not disturb music harmony”.
Because music is great. But it is not easy to notice when it starts “Remember when you were young..”. Great peace, how could people create things like that ? That’s a question, I’ve used to ask different times, when I listen Pink Floyd music.
Ok, to be more precise, it is about concert versions (Pulse or The Delicate Sound of Thunder). Originally, song is from “Wish you were here” album, title of the album is also a tribute. Tribute to Syd Barrett (founder or co-founder of the band). I prefer Gilmour Waters Wright art more (it is closest to me). Pink Floyd music is great and Barrett is a part of it. Part of band that created diverse and deep music, that should stay for ages.
One negative thing, there were no any opportunity to visit their concerts in Golden years. So, DVD’s and other videos are alive.
